CASE STUDIES
INTELLIGENCE
A multi-national oil and gas organisation. Latin America.
- A multinational oil and gas enterprise required information on country and specific geographical areas in Colombia, as the basis of their decision whether or not to bid and thus invest in exploration and extraction
- Team Savant applied their unique concept of deploying its own highly trained operators into the areas themselves to obtain the actual ground truth, augmented through a thorough process of intelligence gathering using high quality communication and interaction skills sets.
- The areas themselves were dominated by a combination of very well organised terrorist and paramilitary groupings, against a backdrop of other complexities such as indigenous tribes and communities, environmental issues and a distinct lack of infrastructure.
- Perceptions and expectations are often different to actual threats and risks; so Team Savant analysed:
- the country's relations with other states in the region and internationally,
- the domestic political stability of the country as a whole,
- the terrorist, paramilitary and other criminal organisations relative to the company’s employees, operational objectives and facilities.
- Team Savant created relationships with the relevant political, business, military, law enforcement and community stakeholders at the strategic, operational and tactical levels to gather primary data about all of the dynamics which could affect the business dealings of our client.
- Through its own recognized analytical process, Team Savant combined this intelligence with an analytical approach, producing an audit complete with substantiated conclusions and recommendations.
- The audit gave our client the confidence to successfully bid for a number of oil concessions and commence with exploration.
- This has led to a significantly large find of heavy oil in what is considered one of the most hostile and complicated countries on the planet.
